love Stories + Notes
Erica: Full-Spectrum Doula CLIENT
Sarah sees birthing people. She really sees them, and with her heart, her efforts, her level headedness in listening and supporting during a birthing person’s time of extreme feelings and change, with all of her faculties … she is there for them. This is not just a job for her, this is a calling. Thank you, Sarah, for giving in this way.
Caitlin: Prenatal Yoga
Sarah’s classes were warm, welcoming and embracing of all types of parents and bodies. I always felt well supported in whatever my body could do that day, and in being just exactly myself. Sarah has a way of connecting with everyone in her classes that makes people feel relaxed and welcomed.
Geetika: Prenatal + Postpartum Yoga
Prenatal Yoga with Sarah Oakley was the best gift during my pregnancy. It was the HIGHLIGHT of my week when I was counting weeks to meet our baby, a time that can be so challenging and so full of exciting anxiety. She creates an ABSOLUTELY AMAZING space to be nurtured and nourished not just physically but spiritually and emotionally as well!
Johanna: Full-Spectrum Doula Client + Yoga
She was truly present - paying attention to what I needed, even when I wasn’t sure what that was. When interventions were suggested, she helped me make informed and unrushed decisions without judgment. She also made sure that my partner was an active participant. She helped him help me, rather than just taking over for him - she understands how to help a partner take on a central role in labor and birth.
Andrea: VBAC Doula Client + Yoga
I wish that you truly knew how the day that you were there for the VBAC of Esme changed my life and healed me in so many ways from the trauma of my first birth. From the first time we met to discuss our partnership to the moment I caught her and looked at you and you said, "You did it," seemed like a dream. There has never been another situation where I felt so deeply supported, understood, loved and cared for like the way you did for me.
Allie: Full-Spectrum Doula Client + Yoga
Sarah understands that all the senses—taste, smell, sight, touch, sound—can be resources for postpartum nourishment. But what’s exceptionally unique is that she’s not just all “woo”! Her wise understanding of herbs and emotional intuition is complemented by a sophisticated understanding of the physiology of pregnancy, birth, and babies.
Cara: Postpartum Doula Client
One of the most meaningful things was at the end, when our time together was coming to a close. Sarah wrote me a beautiful note tucked into the laundry she folded and it just meant so much. You can easily lose yourself in a new baby and family, having Sarah as my postpartum doula meant that I wasn’t lost and her support helped me feel the most happiness of any of my postpartum experiences .
Grace: Prenatal Yoga
I just wanted to tell you how much I appreciated you back in the day during my first pregnancy. Prenatal yoga with you was a wonderful experience not only physically, but emotionally too. It was perfect practice in preparation for the birth of my son who is now 9. I was so blessed you were in our community at the time and I wish you were still near enough for me to go to your classes now!
Sarah: Prenatal + Postpartum Yoga
I told her at the beginning of our session that I was feeling emotional and might cry. Sarah said "you are always welcome to cry in my presence." This is the memory that I think best represents how I feel about Sarah's birthwork. She is there for all of it. Not just the birth, not just the fireworks- she is there for the tears, for the darkness. She knows how to honor it. She made me feel strong by allowing me to share my tears
